Fibre
Our organic cotton is grown in Uganda and Tanzania. Organic cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) from the organic fibre source to the dyes and fabric. GOTS is the leading standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria and is backed by independent third-party certification. We are working on extending the certification to cover the entire textile supply-chain.
Fabric
Our cotton trouser fabric has been fully made in Italy, from the spinning of the yarn to the weaving of the fabric. The fabric is made from coarse cotton threads that are woven in a 3/1 twill weave structure which creates a fabric with a similar feel to traditional denim. Our styles are dyed with eco-friendly mineral dyes that are sourced from small quarries in Italy and abroad. They are more colour-fast than plant dyes and are used in low-temperature dyeing which makes them resource-efficient and with even lower carbon footprint. All chemicals used in this dyeing process are environmentally-friendly and are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) certified. The styles are garment dyed which means applying colouring after the garment has been sewn. This allows us to dye only the amounts and colours we know our customers like.
Factory
The garments are made in Portugal by our supplier with whom we have worked for almost 10 years. Carla is always forthcoming and expert in her field, always a pleasure to work with.
