Our organic cotton is grown in India, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. The cotton is certified by Organic Cotton Standard which ensures that it has been grown solely in organic farms that take care of the soil, ecosystem and people by relying on biodiversity and local natural cycles. Our hemp fibres come from China. Hemp has similar properties to linen, it is very strong and softens through washing. It is natural, breathable, absorbs moisture and dye easily, has anti-bacterial properties, is an effective insulator keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Hemp is a fast and efficiently growing fibre that requires almost no fertilisers and pesticides and very little water. Often called super fibre hemp is great for the environment and is extremely durable.
Fabric
Our lighter weight hemp and organic cotton jersey, ideal for creating softly textured tops, tunics and trousers. The hemp gives the jersey a lovely drape, whilst the cotton adds weight and stability. The fabric is not sheer, even in pale colours. The styles are garment dyed which means applying colouring after the garment has been sewn. This allows us to dye only the amounts and colours we know our customers like. After knitted into jersey fabric, cut and sewn, the garments are washed to give the fabric a softer handle as well as a more casual appearance. The fabric will continue to soften each time you wash it.
Factory
The yarn, fabric and garments are all made by our supplier based in Rushan, to the north of Shanghai. The garment factory is powered by solar panels and focuses on producing environmentally-friendly clothing using hemp. We are proud to have worked with this supplier and their team for more than ten years.
