Fibre
Mohair is a luxury fibre made from the hair of angora goat (not to be confused with angora material that comes from angora rabbits). Our mohair and wool fibres are responsibly grown in South Africa and are mulesing-free.
To ensure the structural stability and durability of the yarn, especially the longer mohair fibres, polyamide is used. We aim to avoid synthetic fibres in our collections, but on this occasion, it is to make sure our garments last without compromising on the unique mohair texture.
Fabric
Our mohair and merino wool blend garment is lovely and warm with soft longer mohair fibres showing on the surface of the knit. The fibres are 'top' dyed before being spun into yarn. This process results in beautiful melange colours and a softer hand feel. Each panel is knitted to the shape of the garment which therefore creates less wastage. Panels and trims are attached using a hand-linking machine, resulting in a premium, high-quality garment.
Factory
The knits are produced in close collaboration with one of our longest standing suppliers, a small knitter based in Dongguan, China. We have enjoyed working with owner Robert and his dedicated team, Ceci and Carmen, for over 20 years. Their knowledge, experience and attention to detail is second to none. We are proud to have them as part of our team.
